Daily devotion – Christ the head of the Church
Hebrews 10: 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The Bible contains no small thoughts about the Church. In today’s collapsing society and flawed philosophies, the Church will be the last standing bastion of truth in a world that is consumed with error and selfishness.
As followers of Christ, we are to resist the ‘hitchhiker’ mentality of our day that sees people drift from one Church to another….ever learning and never coming to a knowledge of the truth…. 2 Tim 2:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Instead, we are to commit ourselves to a local expression of Christ’s body and serve with love and passion, Christ the Head of the Church, and the people He has placed in His body.
We are to give ourselves unselfishly to building up the body of Christ with our prayers, time, service, and stewardship.
We are to plan our lives around the ministry of the Church instead of individual pursuits.
We are to love the Church in a way that pleases Christ, who loved it and gave Himself for it.
Rev 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’
