The Unseen Presence of Jesus
: Acts 4:13 (NKJV)
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.”
The boldness and wisdom displayed by Peter and John, despite their lack of formal education, astonished those who observed them. The people marveled and realized that these disciples had been with Jesus. However, it is important to note that their relationship with Jesus was not confined to the past; rather, it was very much present in their lives.
Jesus had promised His abiding presence with His disciples. In Matthew 18:20, He said, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Even though the disciples could not physically see Jesus at that moment, He was with them in a very real and tangible way.
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He commissioned His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, promising to be with them always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20). This promise was not limited by time or distance; it extended throughout history, encompassing all believers. The unseen presence of Jesus is a constant reality for His followers.
Just as the Sanhedrin looked at Peter and John and sensed an unseen fourth presence with them, we too can experience the comforting assurance that the Lord stands with us in our times of need and trial. When we face challenges or walk through the fire, Jesus is there, strengthening and supporting us.
Be mindful of Jesus’ promise to be with you always. In every aspect of your life, whether during times of trial or in moments of rest and reflection, acknowledge His abiding presence with gratitude and awe.
Make an effort to gather with fellow believers regularly, understanding that when you come together in Jesus’ name, He is present among you. Enjoy the fellowship of other believers, encouraging and being encouraged in the faith.
Throughout your day, take time to consciously commune with the Lord. Whether on a short walk or in quiet moments of reflection, invite Him into your thoughts, knowing that He delights in fellowship with His children.
Remember, our God is a God who loves fellowship with His children. His love and presence are continually surrounding and encompassing us. Rejoice in the assurance of His unseen but ever-present hand guiding and leading you through life’s journey.
Psalm 46:1 (NKJV): “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV): “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'”
1 Corinthians 1:9 (NKJV): “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your abiding presence in my life. Help me to embrace the reality of Your unseen hand guiding and leading me each day. May I seek intentional fellowship with other believers and cultivate moments of communion with You throughout my day. Thank You for Your unfailing love and constant presence with me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
