Daily devotion – its how you are made, there is just one of you!
Psa 139:13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
Psa 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
We often are looking in the wrong place to see the miracles of God, His handiwork, His glory and His power, when it right under our eyes each day.
The Bible tells us that God has made each one of us unique. We each have our own fingerprint, a mark of identification that no one else on the planet has. In addition, our eyes have an individual pattern, a retinal identification, that only you have.
Yet all of us are made in the image of God!
Angels were made not in the image of God, only man.
We each were given a spirit, as well as a soul. The term spirit ‘spirit’ in the Old Testament is the Hebrew word, RUACH, which is commonly translated wind and breath. As such, the ‘breath of life’ or literally, ‘spirit of lives’ is a possession of animals as well as man.
But, the spirit of man, like God Himself, is an eternal spirit; whereas the spirit of an animal ceases to exist when the body dies and goes back to the earth – Ecc 3:21.
We, made in God’s image, have attributes such as moral consciousness, the ability to think abstractly, an understanding of beauty and emotion, and above all, the capacity for worshiping and loving God!
You were created to have fellowship with God, to spend time in His presence, to converse with Him, to hear His voice within your soul. At the heart of all loneliness and despair sits our need to have this childlike and very personal closeness with He who made us.
When depression falls on you, when anxiousness grips your heart, when loneliness traps you, it is at that very moment that how you were made is telling you, ‘draw near to Him, run to Him, call out to Him, seek His protection, His guidance and wisdom….’ for this is how you were made!
Jesus did not say, …man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD – just to make us to reading each day.
No, He knows that we need His Word and His fellowship as much as we need air to breathe.
Maybe this week you are under the cloud of depression or loneliness – it’s your very being sending the signal to you….to go to Him. Run to Him and fall at His feet and let He who made you love you like the Father He is to you!
