Daily devotion – the people God can use
Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour – Acts 3:1
When we examine the disciples’ lives and the impact Jesus had on them, we discover that they became men of prayer!
In addition, they were men of faith! They were men who had come to the Cross of Calvary and had no ambition for themselves—a rare commodity today. They were also men of the Word of God and thoroughly knew the Scriptures.
Lastly, Peter and John were men filled with the Holy Spirit. These are the characteristics of a person that God can use.
When God uses a person like this, He will receive the glory for their work throughout their lives! The Jews had three specific prayer times each day: nine in the morning, noon and three in the afternoon. As the Jewish day began at 6:00 am, the ninth hour fell at the third prayer time or evening prayer session.
Now even though Peter and John were now believers in Christ, they still observed the Jewish prayer times, and they still worshipped at the temple. The Scriptures repeatedly show us that God uses people of prayer.
This week if we desire to be used by God just like Peter and John, we too must become men and women of prayer!
