Daily devotion – Ebenezer
Remembering God’s Help
1 Samuel 7:12 (NKJV) “Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the LORD has helped us.'”
In times of trials, challenges, and battles, it is essential for us to remember and acknowledge the help that God provides. Just as Samuel set up a stone monument to commemorate God’s intervention and assistance, we too should establish “Ebenezers” in our lives—reminders of how God has helped us along our journey.
God’s assistance in our lives is not limited to physical battles or external circumstances. He is actively involved in every aspect of our lives, providing guidance, strength, and wisdom. Just as He fought for Israel against their enemies, He fights for us against the spiritual forces that seek to defeat us.
Develop a heart of gratitude by regularly acknowledging and giving thanks for God’s help and provision. Keep a journal or make it a practice to express thankfulness in your prayers.
When facing challenges or battles, turn to God first for guidance and strength. Remember that you are not alone, and God is always ready to help you overcome. Surrender your struggles to Him and trust in His strength. Share your stories of how God has helped you with others. Your testimony can encourage and inspire those who may be facing similar challenges.
Teach Your Family – Just as Samuel set up a stone as a reminder for generations to come, teach your family about God’s faithfulness and the importance of relying on Him in times of need. Just as God helped His people in the past, He will continue to help you today and in the future.
Trust in His unchanging nature and let His faithfulness strengthen your faith.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your unending help and guidance in my life. Help me to remember and acknowledge the times You have intervened on my behalf. Give me a heart of gratitude and a deep trust in Your faithfulness. When I face challenges, remind me to turn to You for strength and direction. Help me establish reminders of Your goodness and help in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
