Daily devotion – Fathers who lead
1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”
The verse from 1 Corinthians highlights the God-ordained order of authority within different realms: Christ is the head of every man, man is the head of woman, and God is the head of Christ. It speaks to the divine design for leadership and submission.
The notion that Satan seeks to target the man to disrupt the family is a perspective grounded in the idea that the father plays a pivotal role in setting the spiritual tone and direction of the household. If the man abdicates his leadership, the family can become vulnerable to spiritual challenges.
Passivity and indifference among men in terms of spiritual leadership and engagement indeed pose challenges to the stability and growth of the family unit. When men step into their God-given roles as leaders and spiritual guides, they become a source of strength, direction, and protection for their families.
Drawing parallels to the way geese fly in formation, men who embrace their role as spiritual leaders can create a slipstream of spiritual guidance for their families, enabling them to navigate life’s challenges more effectively and efficiently.
Anzac Day illustrates the sacrifice and dedication soldiers have shown to protect their families and nation. Similarly, in the spiritual realm, fathers are called to live out their roles selflessly, being willing to guide, protect, and spiritually nurture their families.
Ultimately, the message underscores the vital importance of fathers leading their families in alignment with God’s Word, as it provides a foundation of stability, growth, and spiritual well-being for both the present and future generations.
