Daily devotion – a night to remember
Act 12:12 So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.
Last night we gathered for our study on End Times and to pray for the needs of the Church as the Lord directs us. We many times will split into smaller groups to pray and last night the group of men I was with numbered in total five men. The Lord tells us that where two or more are gathered together in His name He is in our midst. I say all this because the prayer time was amazing.
Prayer after prayer rolled from each of these men after we had initially prayed for the prayer cards for Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour with specific requests for those in need of God’s power and grace.
The men I gathered with, led by the Holy Spirit, covered so many of the needs within our fellowship, covering all ages, ministries, particular relationships and issues that the Lord had laid upon our hearts. I write this today to encourage those of you that perhaps have not ventured out Wednesday night, to say that you are missing out on so much that will both bless you and bless those for whom you pray.
This Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Wednesday evening, achieved far more in that short time in the ministry of the Lord than a massive program, event or outreach. How can I say this? Because it is through prayer that God moves the mightiest and achieves so much more.
People often look at ministry in many ways but few believers really acknowledge the most powerful ministry of them all – prayer.
In addition, we had someone join with us and known to most of us here at Calvary that has been in the greatest fight for his life with cancer. Through the prayers of the saints Wednesday evenings, our brother is now the first on a world trial for his particular cancer. At the end of the evening Peter stood and explained to everyone gathered the power that their prayers had achieved and the effect they had on his life and walk with God.
It was a very special moment where the Lord again had each of us realize that it is through prayer that our Lord moves mountains, does the miraculous and reveals His power.
Satan fights particularly against the Church of Jesus Christ and each believer to keep them from praying. To convince them that praying does not really matter.
A Church, a believer, who fully realises the power and importance of prayer, is the most dangerous opponent to the work of the enemy.
It’s time to pray.
Luk 11:1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
The disciples asked Jesus to teach them one thing – to pray. Why? They could see in Jesus example and life that it was the most important action that He did every day and night!
