Daily devotion – Genesis 1
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Did you hear of the scientists who went to God and said, “We do not need you anymore, we have advanced to the place where we can now create man, we can clone so we do not need you anymore. God said, “That is interesting, let’s see you do it.” So as the scientist picked up a handful of dirt, God said, “Oh no, you get your own dirt.”
The question is did all this around us just happen by coincidence?
The earth’s distance from the sun 149,597,893 km with the time that sunlight reaches earth being 8.3 minutes. If the earth was a few percent farther from the sun then the earth would be too cool for a stable water cycle and the entire planet would freeze over. If the earth was a few percent closer to the sun the waters of the earth would boil – in both cases no life.
The earth’s gravity a slight increase and the atmosphere would retain too much ammonia and methane, which are toxic to life. A slight decrease and the earth would lose too much water – both cases no life.
Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Only God can do this!
If you can believe Genesis 1:1, the rest of the Bible is going to be a breeze – Moses opening the Red Sea, Jonah inside a great fish, and the dead raised again!
