Daily devotion – In awe…

Pastor Keith   -

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.

On most Sunday’s we have approximately 45 minutes to delve into God’s Word, to have the Holy Spirit through His Word, speak to our hearts, enrich us, calm us, guide us, instruct us,  and bless us. I was studying today the “Attributes of God”. Things such as the knowledge of God, His supremacy, His sovereignty, His goodness and the greatness of His power, just to name a few.

In the time we have normally when we gather as Christ’s Church, we can only plummet the depth of the awesomeness of God to a certain limited depth. Reading a passage from Isaiah the prophet today , Isaiah 40: 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 23 He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. – brings me to my knees in humility, because God is so much more than we could possibly know. There may come a time when we His Church collectively are so moved by the Holy Spirit, that we cannot say a word, we cannot move, as we are in awe, completely overwhelmed by the greatness of our God!

Which brings me to a question for you to ponder. How great is your God? How big is He?

Because the God of the Bible is so vast, powerful and wonderful that the bible declares His hand spans the universe. Isa 40:12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, Measured heaven with a span And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales And the hills in a balance?

I pray that you will search the holy Scriptures, that you too each day will continue to be in awe of the Creator of Heaven and Earth, who gave us His Son to die for us so that we could be reconciled back to Him for eternity!

But lastly, when we stand back or perhaps I should say, when we bow down in humility before Him, our struggles, our fears, our future, we can be rest assured, are in the most capable of hands!

We are safe and we are blessed and nothing, no power, no one can or will ever change that or be able to take that away from we who are His!

Romans 8: 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

If you have children, saved or unsaved, share how great God is with each of them!
