Daily devotion – just one of those days..

Pastor Keith   -

In 1 Samuel 30:6, we find David in a situation of great distress. His own people were speaking of stoning him because they were deeply grieved and each man mourned for his own sons and daughters. It was a time of utter despair and difficulty for David.

There are days in our lives when it seems like everything is going wrong. Simple tasks become frustrating, and challenges seem insurmountable. It’s during these moments of distress that we might find ourselves venting our frustrations or even engaging in self-criticism.

David, in the midst of his own dire circumstances, provides us with a valuable lesson. Instead of succumbing to despair or anger, he chose to encourage himself in the Lord his God. He turned to his faith and found strength in his relationship with God.

It’s essential for us to remember that we can do the same. When life becomes overwhelming, when things seem to go wrong at every turn, we can turn to our faith, in God’s precious Word,  for solace and strength. We can find encouragement in our relationship with God, knowing that there is no problem too big for Him to handle.

Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has demonstrated His power over sin and death. He has given us tools like Baptism and the Last Supper to strengthen our faith and remind us of His promises. Additionally, God often works through fellow believers to encourage us and remind us of His presence and grace.

So, while you may not face the threat of stoning, there will be moments in life when you feel overwhelmed by various troubles. In those times, remember that you can always turn to the God of strength, just as David did. Jesus is His name, and He offers solace, guidance, and strength to those who seek Him in faith.
