Daily devotion – The all knowing God!
Dan 2:22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
In the fast-paced lifestyle of today, there has been a great increase in peoples fears. We call them phobias. The usual one’s most people know, such as the fear of public speaking, the fear of confined spaces, or the fear of heights, just to name a few. For many in these troubled times, it’s a fear of the future – Chronophobia. Chronophobia is defined as the persistent and often irrational fear of the future or the fear of passing time.
One of the beautiful attributes of God is that He is omniscient. He knows everything: everything possible, everything actual; all events and all creatures, of the past, the present, and the future.
He is perfectly acquainted with every detail in the life of every being in heaven, in earth, and also in hell. As Daniel details, “He knows what is in the darkness.”
Nothing escapes His notice, nothing can be hidden from Him, nothing is forgotten by Him. The Psalmist wrote in view of God’s all-knowing, these words – Psa 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
His knowledge is perfect. God never errs, never changes, never overlooks anything.
Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
God knows us intimately – Psalm 139: You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
Here is the good news for us today. Because God is omniscient, why would we not therefore take every decision, every matter of concern, every worry to Him in prayer!
It would be foolish of us to know someone who knows the future, who knows everything about everything, to not ask Him or seek Him for wisdom on what we should do on all matters that we are unsure of.
Why therefore are so many believers fearful of the future? Why are so many of us making foolish decisions because we have not sought the counsel or wisdom of the Lord?
This week, if you have a matter of which you are unsure about, a decision that troubles you, a matter that needs discretion, take it to your Heavenly Father in prayer and then wait patiently.
Do not take another step until you hear from Him on the matter – be patient!
God is never in a hurry and neither should we be when we are unsure of what the next step we seek to take is!
