Daily devotion – Hope
There is hope! As I grow older in the Lord and learn more about Him, the greater the love I have for Him grows, and so too my adoration of just who Jesus Christ is and how much He cares for me. My prayer at this time is that you, with each passing day, would grow in your passion and love for Him, causing us to desire to serve and please Him however we are able. It is amazing what He has done for each of us!
We were doomed to judgment for our sins, destined to have a life separated from God forever. The realization of being separated from God Himself for eternity in hell is a terrible prospect. We could not save ourselves; it was an impossible task that no one could achieve. But Jesus Christ came into our world just to save us – something to ponder and give thanks for every moment of our lives.
If we were unable to save ourselves, it meant that our lives were devoid of hope. But because of what Jesus Christ did—coming to our earth, suffering, and dying in our place, fully paying the price for every one of our sins—we now have hope. We can know for sure that we will go to heaven when we die. All our sins can be forgiven, and we can begin living a new life, all by God’s grace. Our journey through life can now be different because we are now traveling on God’s path.
Even before time began, God knew all about us and planned this new life, this new path for us. He looked across the ages and saw that we would be helpless and lost without Him in our sin. We were unable to find the right road on our own, even though we tried every which way. God saw you from all eternity and planned to provide another way—His way that would take you to heaven someday. Because of that, we now have a purpose and peace in our lives!
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). As Christians, let us be reminded each day of the glorious hope we each have. Perhaps you may know a brother or a sister who seems to be personally unaware of this hope available to them. Will you remind them, encourage them, and share once again all the amazing things Jesus Christ has done for those who name His name? Sadly, I see too many Christians living as people of the world, unaware of the hope they now have.
When we find this hope in bucket loads each time we place ourselves at the foot of the cross and remember with amazement and awe what Jesus did for us, how much He loves us, and what He desires for our lives right now! This hope is amazing because it is found in a living person—His name is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the King of kings, and He is the almighty God. Love Him with all your heart today!
