Daily devotion – For unto us a Child is born…
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given….
Each Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ the Son of God. “Unto us a Child is born..” In one sense, it was that.
He was born and died some 33 three years later on the Cross at Calvary and then three days later He rose again.
But as we read the Holy Scriptures, they also tell us that Jesus had no beginning or end!
Jesus is God. He is eternal. He is a distinct Person of the Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
For us, Christmas is celebrating the entrance that Jesus made on earth. For God, it was the departure of His Son from Heaven. “Unto us a Child is born.”
That is earth’s perspective. “Unto us a Son is given.” That is Heaven’s perspective!
How wonderous is this amazing story of our Saviour? It certainly makes Christmas so much more when we take a look behind the scenes!
And all of this is for you and I – God is as the psalmist writes – Awesome!
