Daily devotion – History in the making

Pastor Keith   -

1 The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw.
2 O LORD, how long shall I cry,
And You will not hear?
Even cry out to You, “Violence!”
And You will not save.
3 Why do You show me iniquity,
And cause me to see trouble?
For plundering and violence are before me;
There is strife, and contention arises.
4 Therefore the law is powerless,
And justice never goes forth.
For the wicked surround the righteous;
Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.
The LORD’s Reply
5 “Look among the nations and watch—
Be utterly astounded!
For I will work a work in your days
Which you would not believe, though it were told you.
6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans,
A bitter and hasty nation
Which marches through the breadth of the earth,
To possess dwelling places that are not theirs.

Last Wednesday evening we learnt that history is under divine control – God raised up the Chaldeans! As we view the current world events in these Last Days, we can also look back over time and see God’s fingerprints on our world’s history bringing us to where we are today. God controls not only Israel but also His enemies – example – the Chaldeans at the time of the prophet Habakkuk and today that would include, Russia, Iran, Turkey and Libya.

Every nation on earth is under the hand of God!

Jer 18:7 “The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it,

There is no power in this world that is NOT ultimately controlled by God. Things are NOT what they appear to be. As such, at the time of Judah’s backsliding, God raised up the Chaldeans as His tool to chastise His people, Israel.

God is the Lord of history. He started the historical process, and He is controlling it. He is also going to end it!

Today, may we never lose sight of this fact for it reassures us to be able to have peace within our hearts whilst our world seems to be spiralling out of control.

Be assured, the war in Israel, the weakness of governments once powerful and influential, the protests around the world, are contained in the hand of God for His ultimate purpose.

Therefore, let each of us pray, seek God’s Word, and forsake not the assembling of ourselves together (His Church) as we see the Day of the Lord’s coming approaching soon!
