Daily devotion – Let not your heart be troubled.
Psalm 2: 1 Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
2 The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the LORD and against his anointed one.
3 “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.” 4 But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury. 6 For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.”
As I read the news, and follow on twitter, the anger and vile hatred that is spewing out on the streets of the nations of our world against Israel, it brings to me only heartache, anger and confusion. How could people be so vile in their attack on the Jewish people? How can people show public adoration of a terrorist group such as Hamas and the atrocities they have carried out on October 7?
But thankfully, that is not all my eyes read each day, as I open the Word of God my spirit is calmed and my anxiousness dissipates under the power of the Holy Spirit and His assuring love.
For here is Psalm 2 we read exactly the description of our world now. Angry nations, people shouting for an Islamic Jihad, planning to eliminate everything of the One true God, the God of Israel. The angry mobs chant and cry out thinking that their plans will come to fruition.
But from the throne of God, the Psalmist tells us that God laughs at their pathetic foolishness. He scoffs them!
But soon we will see His anger fully unleashed as described in Revelation 6 -18. Jesus will return in full fury in Revelation 19 and His judgment will be swift and brutal!
Jesus will take His seat on David’s throne in Jerusalem and finally the Jewish people will be in peace in the land that God gave them through their father Abraham.
I love that we have the ability and privilege to be able to go to the end of the story, the back of the book, the Bible, for there we see the end of the matter!
It is now a time to pray, to be in God’s Word, for things will grow worse and worse throughout our world – but when your heart troubles you look unto God’s Word and read again the end of all matters.
John 14: 1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
Soon!
