Daily devotion – Open doors

Pastor Keith   -

As the days grow darker in our world as the Bible prophesied they would, it presents to each believer in Jesus Christ a door of opportunity unlike any time previously. The Apostle Paul sought prayer for himself and every opportunity to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ –

Col 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,

1Co 16:9 For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

2Co 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord,

However, once God opens a door for us to share the Gospel with someone, at that moment do we seize the opportunity, or do we baulk at that time and not step out or speak out in faith?

I can look back at many situations that God has granted me a moment, an open door, to share Christ with someone and I failed to do so. Those times haunt me consistently. Now, I must speak and share, and not waste any open door, when I sense God has opened up a situation for me to share His love and grace with someone who does not know about Christ.

How do we ensure that we don’t blow it the next time God opens a door for us, and He will?

It’s how we start and finish each day that makes the difference! At night let us pray, “Heavenly Father,  go before me tomorrow, lead me to someone who I can share your love with, give me the words and the wisdom to speak on your behalf.” That’s the prayer for the day ahead as you end your day.

Then in the new morning, greet the Lord with praise and thanks and pray, “Heavenly Father, today, give me an opportunity to speak for you, to tell someone about who you are and how  you died on the Cross of Calvary for them to give them hope and forgiveness!”

Paul tells us to be ready – 2Ti 4:2 “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”

Jesus tells us to be prayed up in preparation – Mat 17:21 “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

How amazing to think that God seeks to use us to tell others about Him!

Rev 3:7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”
