A Message of Hope for the New Year!
Psalm 121:
No Evening Service Tonight Only
Wednesday Prayer Night will return 10th January 2024

This week at Calvary – This morning we are screening a short musical clip from Caesarea in Israel. After which we will stand and pray for the hostages still held captive in Gaza by Hamas, and we will also pray for the families of those awaiting their safe release. With tonight being New Year’s Eve, there will be no evening service to allow you to be with family this last night of 2023. If you have children attending Sunday School here at CCSH, your being part of the servant team during your child’s time at Sunday school would greatly assist your child and other little saints. Sunday school age participation is up to 11 years of age only. However, we also pray that your child will have already graduated into the sanctuary to sit with you under the teaching of the Word of God before then. See Helen Carmody to both serve and if your child is ready to graduate from Sunday school to be with you, please provide their name to Helen as well so we can officially welcome them into the sanctuary service. Next Sunday we begin our new series in the book of Genesis!
From the Pastors Desk – Today is the last day of 2023. For some it will be a year that nearly broke them. For others it will be a year of celebration. When you log on to Twitter it opens with, “What is happening?!” A question mark and an exclamation mark punctuate the statement. 2024 for all of us will be filled with new and unknown events and situations. Good things, difficult things and maybe some sad things. BUT, as we head into the New Year, we take with us the Word of God, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, the shadow of the Cross and we are accompanied by the Church of Jesus Christ. Being prepared is always a wise thing. Being ill equipped and unprepared, like the five foolish virgins, is a dangerous path fraught with defeat. Let each of us and our families step into 2024 with confidence and boldness. Not in ourselves nor our natural gifts. But with confidence in our Lord – Phl 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus. Let me take you to the end of 2024, God will still be with us, He will have kept us in His care, and we will remain in His grace! No matter what the New Year will bring, God already knows and has gone before us. So let us allow Him to guide our steps and keep us in His will. Proverbs 3: 5 – 7.
Helen’s Heart I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me – Phil 4:13 – We need energy to keep us going throughout the day. The sun is our physical source of energy – its rays travel to earth in 8 minutes, at its core the suns temperature reaches 15 million degrees Celsius. As powerful as the sun is, it is infinitesimal compared to the infinite power of God. The sun and untold billions of stars were called into existence by a mere word from God. Think on this when you make your requests to God – the God who can do ‘far more exceedingly than we ask or think!” Praying you have a blessed New Year!
Grace Giving 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in our surrounding communities. Located on the eastern side of the sanctuary is a container for your grace giving – With the Commonwealth Bank – Account name – Calvary Chapel Church Secret Harbour Incorporated – Account – 10891970 – BSB – 066-516.
Calvary Chapel Nasinu – Pray for God’s guidance for this work in Fiji in 2024.
“Start the new year off with a sure thing—God’s promise to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).” “The most important resolution you can make as another year approaches is this: to open your heart and life to Jesus Christ and commit your life to Him. Don’t waste your time on resolutions that don’t ultimately matter; resolve instead to live for Christ.” – Billy Graham
Please – we ask for your cooperation to not be a distraction to others by leaving your seat once the service has started, with the exception of parents taking children to junior worship and Sunday school classes. Please wait until the close of worship before leaving as people can be distracted while reflecting on God’s message to them.
