Daily devotion – fixing all that which is broken.
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace…. Luke 2:14
The centuries continue to roll on and still people are searching for hope, for peace and a purpose for their existence as they battle relationship problems, illness and loneliness of the soul. The great search for happiness continues. As all dream of an idyllic location, an island, a mountain top retreat, where they are away from the world and all its problems. The problem is we all live in a fallen world, plagued by sin and ignorant of God’s Son Jesus.
I listen to talk back radio, watch current affair programs, news updates and all are tackling the same issues we have had since the flood, because sin in humanity is still the root of the problem.
Governments come and go promising to ‘fix’ the problems that last government didn’t. Nothing ever changes, and things get worse with the only difference being they make more distance between God and themselves, and increasing the budget spending to ‘fix things.’
Yet if we as believers mention Christ, or raise what God’s Word says about a matter, deaf ears come into being and there is complete rejection of our ‘foolish’ talk.
But Christmas, with the birth of the Messiah, He would come and pull down the stronghold of Satan, conquer death and the grave, and offer freely forgiveness, hope and eternal life, His birth did and will change our world’s problems once and for all.
Maybe as you read this devotion, your marriage has failed or is hanging by a thread, you have lost hope and you are not looking forward to tomorrow let alone the future. If that is you, don’t neglect or reject God’s answer and promise to give you hope, a reason to live, and a purpose for your life that involves you having a loving relationship with the Creator of the Universe. God came as a child to get your attention. To reveal Himself to you that He was going to make all things right.
Revelation 5: 1 Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel, who shouted with a loud voice: “Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and open it?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and read it.
4 Then I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll and read it. 5 But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of the earth. 7 He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne.
That Child born King in Bethlehem will return soon once again to our world. But not as a newborn infant, no He will return in power and majesty and He will ‘fix’ all things, once and for all.
But today, right now, He can fix you if you will simply surrender your life to Him, cast all your cares upon Him and then wait as God takes control and resets, renews, removes and resurrects a new life within you.
Christmas is the story of when Christ came to fix all that was broken including you and I.
