Daily devotion – Safe Hands, Safe Israel.
Luke 1: 67 Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying: 68 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people,
Buried in the Scriptures leading up to the birth of Jesus that first Christmas night in Bethlehem is this beautiful prophecy spoken by Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist. It speaks powerfully and plainly of the covenant between God and Israel that you and I need to know and be in awe of. It is a key to understanding the Last Days events that are being unveiled before our eyes with the nation and people of Israel. Verses 67 – 68, remind us once again that the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the one true God is the God of Israel! No ifs or buts. They are His people and He is their Redeemer.
69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David,
70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began,
Through the line of David would come the Deliverer, the Messiah, Jesus Christ the Son of God.
71 That we should be saved from our enemies And from the hand of all who hate us,
72 To perform the mercy promised to our father, And to remember His holy covenant,
No matter how many nations turn their back on Israel or come against them, God will save Israel from them all! That was His promise to Abraham given thousands of years earlier.
73 The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:
74 To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
As we watch the war in Israel and raise concerns about Israel’s future with the nations of the world continually telling Israel what they should do, Zacharias prophecy gives us great peace once again that God has His people always in His care. That no matter what the nations of the world throw at His people, God will protect them and keep them.
To us as believers, this brings us wonderful comfort to our own lives and the struggles we face. For the God of Israel is the same God who in John chapter 10, Jesus tells us will keep His sheep in His care. In fact both the Father and the Son hold our lives within the palms of their hands together.
John 10: 27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”
Therefore, we have nothing to fear, for God is keeping us as He is keeping Israel as well.
He never breaks His promises and this causes us to be able to face whatever storms or difficulties may befall us and to know we will overcome such times.
This week – sleep in great peace each time you lay you head upon your pillow; we are in Good Hands – God’s Hands! And let us know that Israel will come through their trials as well and Jesus will take His seat on David’s throne in Jerusalem at His return!
