Daily devotion – the cure for loneliness.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Some 750 years before the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary, God spoke through the prophet Isaiah saying, …. Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Immanuel means – “God with us!”
Loneliness is a massive problem in our world today even though we are more ‘connected’ now than ever via technology. The statement that God tells us He is with us is one of the most wonderful truths of the Bible. In other words, I am NOT alone!
If you want to take the Christian faith and compare it to all other religious worldviews, this would be a clear distinction: Christianity is God with us! Rather than a belief system built on trying to please God and earn His approval, the Christian faith teaches us that it is God with us, living inside of us, helping us to be the men or women He has called us to be.
God will walk with us through life. Jesus echoed this thought when He said – Mat 28:20……and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
In the book of Hebrews 13:5, we are reminded – Heb 13:5 ……and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Christianity shouts out and proclaims to a lonely world – receive Me and you will never ever be alone again!
This truly is the great message of Christmas – Immanuel – God with us – always!
