Daily devotion – the Mighty God…
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God,
I am so thankful that our Lord is the Mighty God! For that means He will take care of the demands that befall my life. Jesus was not just a good man – He was the God-man!
When the Holy Scriptures prophesied of the fact that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem, it described Him as One “Whose goings forth are from old, from everlasting.” Micah 5:2
This phrase literally means, “beyond the vanishing point.” God was saying that from Bethlehem would come the Eternal One, the Mighty God.
Jesus Christ is the Mighty God. This means He has unlimited power for you. There are times in our lives when it is very hard to live the Christian life. In fact, it is impossible to be a Christian apart from the Holy Spirit. If I had to try to live by God’s standards in my own strength, I would fail dismally.
That is why I am so thankful that the Mighty God is always there for me to give me strength to do what He wants me to do – to enable me!
Phl 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
The same God who gives us His counsel and direction will give us the power to live that out in our lives.
This week, walk confidently, not in yourself, but in the knowledge that you sit in the shadow of the Mighty God at all times. Whatever the enemy or the world throws at you, know it is insignificant when compared to the Mighty God who loves us.
