Daily devotion – The Mission of Christmas.
Jhn 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Christmas is the story of God’s rescue mission for all of humanity. Christmas is just not a date on a calendar or an annual holiday. It is not a day to glorify selfishness and hedonism but instead it is a day to celebrate the event that set Heaven’s angelic choirs singing!
An event so wonderful, that the stars of the night sky elicited a new brilliance revealing God’s glory and majesty.
Christmas tells us of a specific time and at a specific place a specific Person was born. That Person was – “God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God” – (ancient Christian Creed). Jesus was His name!
From the lips of Him who came fell these words – Luk 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. This was THE MISSION…..
These words were catapulted into human history to reach the ear and heart of every broken, lonely, lost soul.
For they declare that Heaven has come to our rescue and that God has not left us to stumble alone on earth’s pathway.
Christmas is the story of wonder and hope that we now have because of the FIRST Christmas night in Bethlehem – our Rescuer was born.
