Daily devotion – Godly fellowship

Pastor Keith   -

Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

We read in Genesis that the Lord and Adam (along with Eve) spent sweet fellowship with each other as a common practice. Jesus spent three years in beautiful fellowship with His disciples.

On Australia Day our family gathered together, the kids played and the adults talked – it was a sweet time of fellowship.

People often struggle in spending time daily with the Lord in prayer and reading His Word. Such folk sadly do not realize that such times are not a drudgery or a ‘have to’ to be a Christian. But in fact they are a wonderful privilege of our using our time in being in God’s presence.

Through the pages of the Bible it is evident that somehow the Creator of the Universe loves our company. He enjoys being with us.

Try this week communing with the Lord without the usual requests or complaints. Pray, open your Bible and allow yourself to enjoy God’s company, being in His presence, through the privilege of what Jesus Christ made available for us on the Cross at Calvary.

There are people that you simply enjoy being with. You need nothing extravagant, no bells and whistles to be happening, to be with them. You enjoy greatly their company.

There are times when I am with the Lord when all I do is sit in His presence, enjoy waiting at His feet and recognise too that God is enjoying being with me. Remember Mary (sister of Martha), she spent every moment possible at the feet of Jesus -she loved His company and He hers.

This week may you find yourself in Good Company!

Psa 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
