Daily devotion – Mondays

Pastor Keith   -

Acts 2:40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

It’s early Monday morning, and we face a new week ahead. God has stirred us from our sleep to spend time with Him before the sun rises and everything is quiet. Last Sunday morning and evening teaching, I continue to meditate and revisit. What was the Lord saying to me? What did I need to seek His wisdom and apply now in my walk with Him?

But also, who at Church did God lead me to speak with? Spend time in encouraging or taking time to listen? Who did I say I would pray for this week or follow up with who perhaps needed support?

God places us in His Church for a reason. We are part of His body, and as we operate in the gift or gifts that God has given to each of us, as Paul tells us of in 1 Corinthians 12 -14, was I helping the Body of Christ last Sunday or this week?

Being a follower of Christ, we are reminded that we are part of His flock and are not ‘lone rangers’ in our walk with Him, but we are a piece of a more extensive work. But we also need other believers to grow together with them, just as the early Church did so beautifully in the Book of Acts.
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people.

This week, we have people to pray for and people to follow up next time we gather, whether on Wednesday or next Sunday’s services, to encourage and praise God together with them as part of His glorious Church family.
