Daily devotion – the power of the Resurrection

Pastor Keith   -

1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

Never let us tire of the wonder of the news of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ – He who said He would be crucified and on the third day would rise from the grave. Luk 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

We live in a world of fear, selfishness and shallowness. People living their daily lives without any thought of God or life after death – until they come face to face with it as will every soul on this planet.

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

If you are not a sincere follower of Jesus Christ, if you fail to read God’s Word or to pray and worship He who created you, your life as James says is but a vapour – Jas 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

As Helen and I spend time with our family, our children and grandchildren, there is a wonderful joy that is a constant within our hearts. That joy is predicated on the fact that Helen and I will spend eternity not only with our Lord, but with those whom we love and count dear to ourselves – our own family.

This is why Paul could write with such true joy and praise even though he was in prison so often and treated so badly. His life now was eternal since the day he met Christ on the road to Damascus.

The fact that the Resurrection from the dead awaits all those who are Christ’s is a power and a wonder that is beyond anything that this world could consider to offer in its place. Fortune or fame are as filthy rags in comparison to knowing what will happen to us the moment we pass from this world and our earthly body to be with Christ in glory in a brand-new heavenly body!

If today you sense an overloading of sorrow or oppression, or you are flailing in a storm. Let the Holy Scriptures remind you of the words that Jesus said to a broken grieving woman whose precious brother had died and now lay in a tomb – Jhn 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

This is the unassailable power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ – nothing can stop its wonder or glory. As nothing was able to hold our precious Lord down in the grave after His death at Calvary – and so just as He said, after three days He rose and was seen by over 500 for forty days.

The psalmist wrote…Be still and know that I am God…
