Daily devotion – the Truth.
Just who determines truth? Is it you me or someone else?
We live in a world now where each person states ‘their right’ to say what they think is ‘their’ truth. People will actually say, “What’s true for you is not necessarily true for me.”
Our world has travelled down a path now where truth, real tangible truth is rejected, and replaced by a concept or a feeling.
Right from the beginning truth has been the focus of attack for Satan. Gen 3:1
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?
God had spoken the ‘truth’ to Adam and Eve about what would happen if they ate of the forbidden tree.
There are many times in our lives we search for truth. We look for some back up or proof to a statement, a promise or a decision to make. How can we know what is true?
The Bible, God’s Word gives us the truth on all the critical matters of life and living. Who created all things, who created us, why we were created and for what purpose. It gives us the truth about evil, sin, death, hope and life.
When Jesus walked the earth in which we live, He made statement that is all too often taken glibly. He said of Himself, Jhn 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus said in Him and of Him, He is all truth! I love this statement because I hate being conned, being lied to, being deceived, I always want to know the truth of the matter.
Jesus’ statement and the Word of God itself, gives every believer living in a dark and dangerous world the most magnificent lifeline – we can know the truth!
When a person dies, what happens? We know the truth.
When someone gets married, what does it really mean, we know the truth.
When I think I am alone, we know the truth.
When I need to know how to get help, we know the truth.
Knowing the truth sets us free, it cuts Satan’s ability to deceive us, because we know when he is lying, because we know the truth.
But sometimes, the truth can be staring you in the face and you can’t see it or recognise it as did Pilate, when He asked Jesus face to face, “What is truth?”
Today are you living your life to the tune of lies? Or are you living your live with the assurity of the knowledge of the truth.
The next time you are in need of the Truth – turn to the Word of God and turn your life to Christ, and then you too will see and know the TRUTH!
