Daily devotion – these things will pass….

Pastor Keith   -

“These things will pass…!” Our lives without doing one single thing can fill us with problems. They seem to appear from nowhere.

As Christians, we are not exempt from problems or difficult times. God does not necessarily remove all our problems when we become followers of Christ. But He has promised to be with us, help us, and encourage us amid our difficulties.

As a child, I remember whenever I injured myself or did something that brought with it pain or discomfort, I knew waking up the next day most of the problem would have gone. The pain would be no longer a problem, or I would have now moved on from what was troubling me.

But breaking my wrist whilst playing football brought a very different scenario for the first time. When I woke the following day and moved my arm, it was still as painful as when I first received the injury.

Not all problems disappear overnight. But all issues do have an end date!

2Co 4:17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
2Co 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. The things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

There is no problem, pain, or sorrow that God will not bring to an end!

This is the hope and glory of every believer. Our bodies, included, grow old and begin to fail. Some people are born with a body that troubles them from day one. Others will come under duress later in life through trauma, illness or disease. But all these, too, will pass as God promises to give us a new body unlike the other.

1 Cor 15 53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die.

As Christians, our future is filled with great joy and hope, knowing that ‘all our problems’ will end!

As you go about your business this week, as problems pop up before you, as pain troubles your steps, know … that these things will all pass!
