From the Pastors Desk
Have you been set free from the power of sin over your life? If sin continues to dominate the way you live, the Bible will reveal to us that we have a religious experience, but we don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit residing in us. The Bible declares to us we have been set free from sin – Rom 6:22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now, you do those things that lead to holiness and eternal life. That does not mean you won’t ever sin, but it does mean you have been set free from sins dominating power over your life, so sin now is the exception, not the lifestyle. Imagine for a moment that you committed a crime, were arrested, and put in jail. As you stood before the judge, there is no doubt about your guilt. According to the law, you must pay the penalty for this crime, and that penalty is one year in jail. As the judge pronounces your verdict, he pauses, steps down from his bench, and takes your place. He goes to prison in your place. He is innocent, but he goes to prison and pays the penalty for your crime. You can now walk free! This is what Jesus did, and Paul alludes to it in Romans 6:22.

Helen’s Heart
“He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil” 1 Peter 3:10 The Bible is a very practical book. Proverbs 18:8 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts. From experience we know how damaging gossip can be – friends can be easily alienated as a result of “loose lips.” James speaks of bridling the tongue. Sometimes passing on information about another has not been with evil intent but it nevertheless always causes damage, and in most cases can destroy a person’s reputation. What can we do? Psalm 34:13 tells us to keep our tongue from evil. Here is a simple guideline before we speak about someone. Is it true? Is it my business? Am I being kind? Psa 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

Grace Giving 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in our surrounding communities. Located on the eastern side of the sanctuary is a container for your grace giving – Commonwealth Bank
