Daily devotion – patience means less pain and suffering
Sunday night Pastor Israel began teaching a new series through the book of James. James is a book I love because it helped me learn a most wonderful lesson in my walk with God – that being that God is never in a hurry!
Impatience is a mark of immaturity and as a disciple of Christ, it is also a sign of a lack of trust in God to sought things out His way.
James taught us – Jas 1:4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. My early Christian days were filled with great zeal and sadly a lot of impatience. Impatient believers make poor decisions!
Abraham got weary of waiting for his promised son; so he hurried and took Hagar, as a second wife, and she bore him Ishmael and we have had trouble ever since!
Moses got impatient and killed a man. That necessitated forty years in the back side of the desert learning patience.
The problem with impatience is that when we are in a hurry, even with good motives, we are prone to walk by sight and not faith.
F.B. Myer said, “God’s delays are not God’s denials!”
This week slow down and trust in the Lord’s timing. Learn to be patient. Jesus spent thirty years getting ready for three years of public ministry. He patiently obeyed the Father’s will as He carried out that ministry.
If you want to see fruit in your life from God, do not be in a hurry!
Heb 6:12 …….but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
You will make far less mistakes and will suffer far less pain and sorrow by being patient in your walk with God.
