Daily devotion – standing your ground!
…Stand fast in the faith….1 Corinthians 16:13
We live in a world of impatience and a lack of perseverance!
Secret Harbour has a number of areas of natural bush in it marked by large Tuart trees. Some are enormous and as I look at them I marvel that at one time they were just a sapling that refused to give ground!
So too by God’s grace, you don’t have to give ground in a jelly backed society. We can be consistent in our time or worship; we can be committed to the study of God’s Holy Word; we can be faithful in prayer.
People who are successful in any endeavour have one thing in common: they are part of the one percent who FINISH what they begin!
Whether regarding studies, career, kids, or the things of the Kingdom – most people have great ideas and start well. But they don’t finish. They give ground!
Jhn 17:4
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Finishing the work God gave Him to do wasn’t just an idea in Jesus journal or a thought stirring in His mind. It was something that Jesus did!
Has God called you to teach Sunday school? Do it and stay with it until He leads you in a different direction. Has He called you to have a time of morning worship? Then do so. Has He spoken to you about discipling your children more intensely? Then do it!
The Lord desires for us all to be successful in the things of the Kingdom. His burden is easy and His load is light.
Will you give ground this week – or will you stand your ground?
