Daily devotion – By grace are you saved..

Pastor Keith   -

This coming week as we turn our eyes back to the Book of Genesis, we will travel some powerful and dramatic paths.

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah under the judgment of God. The rescue of Lot and another time of stumbling again for Abraham.

As we read these events of the past, they tell us once again of the mighty grace of a loving God.

Lot living in a sinful place by choice and Abraham once again putting himself before Sarah his wife.

When we read of these, we often think of how foolish Lot was and how could Abraham make the same massive mistake once again. But we each need to know that we too, are foolish like Lot and also, we too repeat the same stupid sins over again.

I am reminded constantly by the Easter story of God’s powerful and amazing love that He would offer His Son Jesus Christ to die for us who are foolish like Lot and sin over and over like Abraham. It’s all by God’s grace that we are saved!

Let us remember how our salvation is made possible – Ephesians 2: 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Thank God for His grace – Amen!
