Daily devotion – growth and maturity that is from God

Pastor Keith   -

Do you ever get frustrated with how slow the change in your life is to be more like Christ? Don’t worry—that’s probably a good reflection of your heart’s desire to serve the Lord in a more powerful way. We often struggle with our own perceived ‘slow’ growth, but be reassured—slow growth is good, solid, and lasting growth.

Jas 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Jas 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Remember, Moses was 40 years old when he ended up in the backside of the desert for another 40 years before he was ready to be the Moses to lead the people out of Egypt.

David was anointed king early as a young boy, but many it would be many years later, before he came to be on the throne of Israel.

In our journey through Genesis with Abraham, it has been over 25 years, and yet Abraham still doesn’t have a son or an heir. God was changing Abram to Abraham!

But with each of these, God’s timing was beautiful and spot on.

This week, instead of using up and wasting your energy on being frustrated, use it to be excited; God is changing you slowly and surely. It’s going to be a lasting change and growth, not simply an emotional whim for a moment.

I urge you to commit yourself to prayer, serve here at Calvary, and allow God every opportunity to use you, mature you, and make you grow!

Be patient, and in your patience rest in God’s grace. His peace will be your constant companion.

Bless you, in your ‘slow’ but sure growth!
