Daily devotion – Jesus our loving High Priest
John 11: 33 When Jesus saw her weeping and saw the other people wailing with her, a deep anger welled up within him, and he was deeply troubled. 34 “Where have you put him?” he asked them. They told him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Then Jesus wept. 36 The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!”
Each Sunday, as Christ’s people gather together as His Church in Secret Harbour, we have many souls who come in pain and sorrow to be with the people who love Him.
When you are sick, you want a doctor and not a medical book or a formula. When you are being sued, you want a lawyer and not a law book.
When sorrow truly grips your heart you want someone who understands your anguish, not just words or platitudes.
When you face your last enemy, you want the Saviour and not a doctrine written in a book.
In Jesus every doctrine, every promise is made personal.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Martha and Mary, Lazarus sisters, got their Saviour, their High Priest in their greatest moment of need.
You and I need only call out to our “Abba Father”, and He hears us. He knows our needs before they arise.
This week, speak your heart to your High Priest as did Abram when God came to speak with him in Genesis 15. Abram poured out his heart, the things that he was really struggling with and God responded directly.
Take time when you are with your Lord and pour out your heart, tell Him of your deepest needs and hurts. Let Him minister to you and take you in His arms and comfort you. Not only will He comfort you but He will speak to your heart about the things you have yearned for.
He understands our every need, our every struggle, this is why He is our High Priest.
Be with Him this week – let Him minister to your heart!
