Daily devotion – The God of your choosing….

Pastor Keith   -

Zec 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

The Jews should have understood Jesus was coming as their Messiah, fulfilling Messianic prophecy.

Jesus fully understood the day’s significance.
He had entered the city on this day in a way specifically designed to draw attention to Himself, His hour had finally come!

Jesus was forcing the hands of the authorities.
A warrant had already been issued for His arrest.
He was a marked man and Annas the High Priest had demanded that any information as to the whereabouts of Jesus be reported directly to him.

Knowing all this Jesus deliberately chose to enter the city as a king.
He did not lay low nor hide.
No, He came openly, purposely, publicly forcing the authorities to respond.

He would not enter the city as a victim, but as a victor.
He was in complete control of His circumstances, knowing His ultimate goal was to get to the cross!

The people’s cries were misdirected – Hosanna yes, but not how they wanted.
He was not coming at that time to establish an earthly kingdom.
He was coming to die on a cross.

He wasn’t going to be placed on a throne of Gold.
He would be placed on a cross of wood.

He wasn’t going to wear a crown of jewels.
He was going to wear a crown of thorns.

How often in our prayers we want God to do things when and how we want.

Many people lose heart, get frustrated and its all because they are telling God what He should be doing instead of getting their lives in obedience to His will.

James says one of the biggest problems in our spiritual lives is us!

Jas 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

If you would like to experience God’s grace and peace in your life, this Easter, take your hands off the controls and let God take over the rudder – it will be a decision you will never regret!
