The Last Days…

This week at Calvary
Welcome to CCSH today as we gather to worship and study God’s Holy Word. This morning we have the blessing of a baby dedication – little Matthew. Could all Sunday school teachers please note the new system of lesson pick and return in the new folders outside classroom #1. Therefore, your attention to the roster is important for this process to work correctly. Parents don’t forget to help your little one’s with their grace giving each week in Sunday school. This week is ANZAC day, and this morning we will be having a minute’s silence during our announcement time in recognition of the sacrifice made by our soldiers and the freedom we have because of their courage. Pastor Keith and Helen will be away for the next two Sundays on vacation but will be back for our Mother’s Day Sunday Service. Calvary Women’s Tuesday Bible study recommences on the 30th of April here at the chapel. Ladies remember to put this in your diary and invite a friend! If you would like to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today, the pastors and elders will be available to pray with you after the service. Calvary Kids and Calvary Youth are back on each fortnight here at the chapel. Your prayers, your support men with security and assistance would be a blessing to all the kids. See Noah Carmody if you can be a part of the Youth Support ministry here at CCSH.
From the Pastors Desk
I am continually saddened by the chaos and evil that is dominating our world news media constantly. Our governments are legislating laws that are in direct opposition to all that is right naturally and godly without an ounce of sense and morality. Anything to do with Christ is trampled underfoot in our schools and in the workplace whilst other religious or spiritual beliefs are lauded and given pride of place. It is the speed of these changes that is remarkable for major changes have occurred in just over a few years. The Bible tells us that this rapid change and depravity of man would occur. Jesus described the speed of these changes as a woman in labour. The birth pains start slowly and far apart and then speed up with less time between. At the same time the speed of change in the Church has been in keeping with that of the fallen world. The holiness of God, the Word of God has been cast out. Every Christian should be burdened by the state of our nation, our world. God is looking for those today who He can be strong through – Daniel 11:32 and those who will stand in the gap. Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Are you making a stand, a difference?

Helen’s Heart
For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name – Hebrews 6:10 Hidden service done so often by many – the housewife, mum, who endlessly cleans, washes, irons, and cooks. The worker who works timelessly but the credit will rarely come their way. God who sees in secret, will not overlook your commitment. Jesus came to be our example – a God who served! So, keep working and God is not unjust.

Grace Giving
2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in our surrounding communities.

ANZAC DAY 2024

Australia did not conscript its soldiers to fight in the Great War – all Australian soldiers were volunteers! The First World War had a devastating impact on Australia. In 1914 the male population of Australia was less than 3 million, yet almost 400 000 of them volunteered to fight in the war. As many as 60 000 died and tens of thousands more were wounded. In 1939 Australia with a population of just 6.9 million people, 40,000 young Australians made the ultimate sacrifice in WW 11 with another 40,000 wounded. Australian war dead of the First and Second World Wars total 102,256. WW2 – a young Aussie Digger wrote, “I prayed a lot, I believe in prayer. I knew my parents and grandparents were praying for me so that helped me lot. And of course, I had my mates. When you have good friends, good mates, you don’t leave them. It was a brotherhood. We got a message from Port Moresby that . . . we had to stay there and fight to the death. That was horrifying. I thought, ‘Well, I won’t see my family again, I won’t see Australia again.’ But I was prepared, like the rest of us, to stay there and fight to the finish.”
