This week at Calvary Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour this Sunday. We have the privilege of celebrating Mother’s Day this morning. As a consequence of it being Mother’s Day, there will be no evening service on the 12th of May to allow opportunity for visiting with family. If you would like prayer after the service, please come forward and Pastors and Elders will be available to pray with you. We continue to seek servants who want to be a blessing here at CCSH by being part of the ministry teams. Simply fill in a Connection Card available at our information desk at the entrance of the Church and place it in our offering container. You will notice that we do not take up an offering, but we have an offering box available for you at the left rear of the sanctuary for you to place your tithes and offerings.  We place a heavy emphasis on prayer here at Calvary and invite you to join us each Wednesday evening at 7:00pm as we gather to intercede for our nation, our Church, and our families. The encouragement is again extended to men to step forward to be Sunday school teachers here at CCSH. This is a ministry that can impact a child’s life for eternity – do you have the gift of teaching; do you know the Word of God? Be a blessing and fill this precious ministry.

From the Pastors Desk (Names Of God blog series) – Adonai

In the midst of our daily routines and ambitions, there’s a question that occasionally looms over our minds: “What if?” What if our paths had taken different turns? What if we pursued different careers or made different choices? Yet, amidst these ponderings, there’s one realisation that remains steadfast: some things are simply beyond our reach.

At the forefront of these unattainable feats is the impossibility of saving ourselves. No matter our efforts or accomplishments, we find ourselves powerless in this regard. However, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, God intervenes on our behalf. He extends an invitation to a relationship—a relationship that transcends mere religious duty and delves deep into the essence of who He is.

In understanding God as Adonai, the Lord of Lords, we uncover profound truths about His character and our position in relation to Him.

Firstly, Adonai reigns supreme in position and authority. He is above all, accessible to us through prayer—a direct line to the highest authority imaginable. Our faith in Jesus Christ allows us to approach Him confidently, trusting in His power to intervene on our behalf.

Secondly, Adonai exercises authority over all creation. From the intricate details of nature to the affairs of humanity, His wisdom surpasses all understanding. In His divine wisdom, through Jesus Christ, He entrusts us with a portion of His authority, calling us to act as vessels of His message and agents of His will.

Thirdly, as Adonai, God possesses inherent rights over our lives. While He could demand our obedience and devotion, He instead invites us into a relationship based on love and mutual respect. Yet, this invitation comes with the expectation of obedience—a call to honour His commands and reflect His character.

Lastly, Adonai holds boundless resources at His disposal. Every aspect of creation, every breath we take, is sustained by His providence. Despite our limitations, He equips us with all that we need to fulfil His purposes on earth.

In light of these truths, our response to Adonai is crucial. Will we echo the excuses of Moses, hesitant to step into the fullness of God’s calling? Or will we embrace our identity as vessels of His grace and agents of His kingdom?

Let us honour Adonai, the Lord of Lords, with lives marked by obedience, faith, and unwavering trust. As we surrender to His authority and abide in His love, we discover the profound privilege of partnering with the Creator of the universe in advancing His kingdom on earth.
