Daily devotion – a moment to talk

Pastor Keith   -

Deut 64 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Yesterday had a few minutes to sit and eat quietly with one of our grandchildren. A general chit chat but then a question was raised which at at that moment in their lives was of great importance.

We live busy lives today it seems whereas in the past there seemed to be more moments created by a simpler lifestyle that made talking or communicating with one another much easier. So much for invention of smartphones!

The Lord gave a commandment to Abraham and the people of Israel to ensure they took time to teach, to listen and instruct their children – when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

This week make an appointment in your ‘busy’ life to speak with all and each of your children in a meaningful way. An actual conversation of meaning.

These are moments to treasure but they will not happen without your making them happen!

If you want to have a time of the Lord’s blessing in your life, create a moment to sit down and talk with someone who loves you dearly but never seems to get much of your real time and attention.
