Daily devotion – Hell
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Mornington Peninsula, Victoria: “Outrage over penalty for teen who pushed an elderly lady off pier and laughed about it.”
A seaside Australian community has been left outraged over the sentence given to a teenager who pushed an elderly woman off a pier as a prank.
The boy was 14 when he pushed the woman off Mornington Pier, in Victoria, in January along with two mates, one of whom recorded video of the incident.
The stunt could have caused the woman – who could not swim – to drown if others had not jumped in to save her.
And now there is shock in the Mornington Peninsula community after the boy, who has since turned 15, walked out of court on Tuesday without a conviction.
He was instead given a diversion order, meaning he will undergo a mandatory program including counselling and education.
There seems to be a complete lack of justice in our modern western world. This lack of accountability and responsibility has drifted into the pulpits of many Churches in Australia today. For example, can you remember the last time you heard the word ‘Hell’ mentioned in a sermon, or even the word sin, or judgment. Yes, the Bible declares grace, but the forgiveness and grace given by Christ is not cheap. It cost the death of the Son of God on a cruel Cross at Calvary over 2,000 years ago.
It appears it is just not fashionable today to talk about Hell – but the Bible is clear on the subject. God created us with a soul and a spirit that will live forever – and when we die, we will continue to exist – either in the place the Bible calls Heaven or in the place it calls Hell.
Hell, the Bible says, is reserved for those who reject God and turn their back on Him. If you want nothing to do with Him in this life, then you will have nothing to do with Him in the next life!
The Lord desires that all would be saved and He gave His Son to die to make that possible for all who would receive Him – Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
You do not want to go to Hell, for Hell is a place of absolute loneliness and hopelessness.
Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
