Daily devotion – Hope that is alive!

Pastor Keith   -

A world in torment. War in Ukraine, war in Israel, genocide in Africa, immorality abounds, teens facing damage as they live in the social media world. The cost of living constantly rising, families in financial crisis,  families fracturing each day under the pressures of a modern world.

One could easily seek to check out of this world, travel to the country and seek isolation and safety. Violence now a common part of our society. What does a person do to survive in such a world?

There are no lifeboats, no life vests, that the world can throw in your direction because they are all sinking too. Academia is in turmoil with more protesting that education. Common sense has left on the latest rocket ship to Mars powered by Elon Musk.

But if one were to take a step back in history the scenario is not too dissimilar. Two world wars with massive loss of lives. Back another few years and Empires ruled under all powerful dictators that at a whim could and would annihilate another people.

Humanity has travelled a sinful path since sin entered the Garden of Eden, but God is steering His creation to a new Heaven and a new Earth.

He sent His Son Jesus Christ into a Roman dominated world to an oppressed people called Israel and in a stable in Bethlehem hope was born.

But this hope is not an idea, nor is it a dream, this hope was a Person by the name of Jesus Christ. He came to seek and save the lost – which is every soul on earth who would bow their heart to Him and receive His love and forgiveness.

This week, remember that stable in Bethlehem, remember a child was born that walked this world and died a cruel death on Calvary’s Cross for a reason, not a whim or a wish.

Jhn 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This same Jesus is coming back again and this time He is coming back to set things right – He is our hope every day and He hears our cries and knows our trials.

We have more than just hope in an ideal – we have hope in a Person, and He is the Son of God.

Rom 14:11
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Knowing Him and knowing His love for you and His soon return enables you to live and be an overcomer in a world that is drowning in sin!

Rev 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
