Daily devotion – your gift
1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
1Co 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
Ever watched someone play the piano, or some other musical instrument and wish you could do so? Or have you tried to learn an instrument and just could not get the hang of it? I tried so hard to play the drums but could not manage the need of my hands doing one thing while my feet another.
Today I carried out a little bit of carpentry work around the house. Each time I finish what I have done I always end up asking myself the same questions. “Is there supposed to be a gap there? Or why is there a slight tilt or lean on the finished product?”
My father was a Cabinet Maker, and I am not!
Knowing your gifting is important not only in life but especially in our service to the Lord. Everyone has watched a talent show when somebody who thought they were a good singer performed and their singing would make a dog howl. Seems nobody ever told them they could not sing, or they just would not listen.
The Apostle Paul teaches us that everyone has a gift, but the gift is not of our choosing or talent, it’s a gift from God.
1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
It’s important for each of us to pray and seek the Lord for His direction on how He desires us to serve.
God will lead and open up the way for the gift He has given you if you will be patient and humble in the process.
This week, wait on the Lord, and allow Him to choose the gift He has for you and the blessing of God will be evident to all, especially you.
