Wednesday 7:00pm – Prayer and Mark’s Gospel

This week at Calvary.
Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour this morning. We pray the Lord’s blessing be with you. If you would like to know how to become a Christian today, one of our pastors or elders will be available to talk with you after the service at the front of the sanctuary. After this morning’s service, you are invited to join with us for lunch here on the Church grounds. A time to break bread and fellowship. We pray that you will use this time as an opportunity for you to meet other families and believers you may not know. Pastor Keith will finish teaching through the book of Genesis this morning and next Sunday morning we will commence a new series in the Gospel of Mark. As next Sunday will be July 7, we will be celebrating holy communion together with a time of remembrance and thanksgiving. If you are unable to physically join with us on Wednesday night for prayer, we ask if you would pray at home alongside us at 7:30pm. May we with God’s grace, be a church that prays together even when we are apart! Is God directing you to serve here at CCSH? Fill in one of our Church Connection cards and place it in our offering box and let the blessing of ministry begin. We are always short of media crew for our Wednesday evening live streaming. You could be the one who sends the Gospel to the world literally.

From the Pastors Desk
Luk 4:4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” Many people in our years of pastoring have asked Helen and I to pray for them. Some are in a time of dryness or disconnect so it appears to them from God. My first question always before we pray with them is to ask, “Are you reading God’s Word?” I cannot tell you how many times the delay in responding or the pause broadcasts that they have been neglecting reading the Bible as their daily bread. Yes, there are some who go through dry times, and they are reading God’s Word. But usually, such folk will receive from the Holy Spirit themselves as to why God is allowing this trial period to be so. God is maturing them and exercising their faith. But for most, the neglect of daily reading and feasting on God’s Word is the culprit for their current barrenness. If you were to continually skip eating each day, it would not be long before your body broke down and fell ill. This is what happens spiritually to believers who starve themselves of God’s Word each day. Your spirit needs God’s daily Bread to enable you to be strong in your faith. Which is why Jesus said what He did in regard to our daily sustenance. Physical bread and the holy bread from Heaven. We don’t eat because we have to, but because we are hungry. I pray that God will give you a healthy hunger for being in His Word. After all it is through His Word that He speaks to you! A well-worn Bible reveals a well-read Bible! Sin will keep you from God’s Word and God’s Word will keep you from sin.

Helen’s Heart
She has done what she could – Mark 14:8 It was a simple act of love and gratitude for all Jesus had done for Mary’s life. She brought an alabaster flask of precious oil to anoint Jesus – would it be enough? Jesus called her act of worship Good – 14:6. It is the simple things, the quiet seemingly insignificant things and the “what can we do” things that bless our Lord and He calls it Good…Do what you can this week and pour out love on the Lord.

Grace Giving
2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in our surrounding communities.

“Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter.” — Charles H. Spurgeon

Genesis 50: 17 ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.” ’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.18 Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.” 19 Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. 21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.”
