Daily devotion – Heavenly minded.
Ever heard the saying, “Too heavenly minded to be earthly good?”
I think that this is actually a false statement as I read the Bible. For we are as believers citizen of heaven – “Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,”
The real problem occurs when I am too focused on the things of this world. It is not a sin either, to long for Heaven. If we know Jesus, we know that in Heaven all our trials ands worries will be forever gone.
Paul said, it was ‘better by far’ to be in Heaven with Jesus than to be suffering on this sin-filled earth. At the same time however, God has a purpose in keeping us here until He finally takes us home. He has things to teach us about ourselves as yet before He finally calls us home.
He has things to also teach us about Himself during this time and He can still use us now to bless others!
Let us today keep our focus on eternity – but also let us seek God’s will for us right now, no matter what we are facing.
