Living Like Jesus: Following His Example in a Broken World
As believers, we are called to follow in the footsteps of Christ, even when it’s hard. In 1 Peter 2:21-25, the Apostle Peter reminds us of this call to live like Jesus, particularly when we face suffering, injustice, or hostility.
Peter writes, “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps.” This profound statement challenges us to embrace the life of Christ not just in moments of joy and blessing but in hardship and suffering. Jesus endured unimaginable suffering on the cross, yet He never retaliated, complained, or turned away from the Father’s will. Instead, He entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly.
In a world where personal rights, comfort, and fairness are often prioritised, the way of Christ stands in stark contrast. His humility, patience, and willingness to endure suffering for the sake of others are examples we are to emulate in our daily lives. Whether we are dealing with difficult people, unjust circumstances, or the pressures of life, we are called to respond with Christ-like humility, trusting God to guide us through.
Peter’s message reminds us that Jesus didn’t just suffer for us; He also showed us how to live in a world filled with pain and injustice. Our lives, when shaped by His example, become a powerful witness to others of the transformative power of the gospel.
Let’s be encouraged today to live like Jesus, reflecting His love, patience, and grace in all we do, knowing that He is our Shepherd who watches over our souls.
