Helen’s Heart
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace…Romans 15:13 In life we face all kinds of storms. We usually think of the personal storms that sweep over us at times – financial worries, family illness, family problems. But we also face other storms like materialism, storms of secularism, storms of injustice, terror, and war. Do you remember the violent Galilee storm where the disciples panicked – but Jesus remained fast asleep. He knew His Father was in control. He was at peace also because He was sovereign over the storm, and He knew it would vanish at His Word: “Peace, be still!!” Mark 4:39.
His Word still calms the turmoil in our lives. Is some storm making you fearful today? Stay close to Jesus, for His Word brings peace.

From the Pastors Desk 2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. God permitted Satan to afflict Paul just as He permitted Satan to afflict Job. This tells us that God controls evil and can use it even for His own glory. Satan cannot work against you without the permission of God. Everything that the enemy did to Job and Paul was permitted by the will of God. There are times in our lives that we may have our own thorn in the flesh. Whilst this is not pleasant nor enjoyable, when difficult storms hit us we can know that God sets the limits as to how far the enemy can go. Thorns in our flesh are allowed by God to enable us to grow, to mature and to learn to be dependent upon God in everything. This week if you sense a thorn in your flesh remember you are in good company. But also know that God is seeking to grow you, and that your flesh, and ego don’t! After Paul prayed for the thorn to go remember God’s answer to Paul’s prayer – My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness!

We will be putting together a significant package of Sunday school material for Fiji which will include, books, pencils and other stationary items to help facilitate the children’s ministry in Nasinu.
