Daily devotion – a tangled mess

Pastor Keith   -

Romans 8:28 – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

There are times in life when the problems we face feel so massive that they seem impossible to fix—even for God. Have you ever felt like that?

Sometimes, our lives can feel like a tangled mess, overwhelming and complex. It reminds me of when I used to fish as a young boy. Often, I’d end up with a fishing line so tangled that it seemed beyond repair. During those times, I would take it home to my dad, and he would sit down, patiently working on the knots until they were free again. Sometimes, it felt like cutting through the tangle would be the easiest way, but Dad’s patience always prevailed.

Our Heavenly Father doesn’t need time or the edge of a knife to fix the tangles in our lives. He takes the mess we bring to Him and transforms it from despair into something beautiful—He brings repair where we see no hope.

If you’re facing a situation right now that feels impossible to untangle, I encourage you to place it all before the Lord. He doesn’t need us to figure it out or attempt to fix things before coming to Him. He’s ready and willing to take on every part of your struggle. God is almighty, and He can do the miraculous.

Early in my walk with God, I used to try and “help” by preparing my problems before giving them to Him. But as I grew in faith, I realized that God wants the entire mess, all of it, just as it is. Now I bring it all to Him in complete confidence, knowing that He will straighten it out.

It’s time to let go of whatever situation you’re holding onto and cast ALL your cares on Him. This is the beauty of prayer—it allows us to release the heavy burdens we’ve been carrying, and God replaces them with His yoke, which is light and easy to bear.

This is the wonder of having a relationship with the true and living God! He exchanges your tangled mess for His grace and peace. A peace that goes beyond human understanding, something those who don’t know God cannot comprehend.

So, this week, let go of the basketful of tangled problems you’ve been carrying. Place them at His feet and wait, knowing that your Heavenly Father will work everything out for good. He is so good at it!

1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
