Living a Life Surrendered to Christ – 1 Peter 3:13-17

In a world that often opposes faith, it’s vital for believers to reflect Christ not only in word but also in action. In his letter, Peter urges Christians to embrace a life that’s completely surrendered to Jesus. But what does that look like? It starts by setting Jesus apart as Lord over every area of our lives—our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and even our finances.

For many, acknowledging Jesus as Saviour is one thing, but allowing Him to be Lord of every facet can be a struggle. Too often, people live with “saved souls but wasted lives,” missing out on the fullness of what God has for them. To “sanctify the Lord God in your hearts” means to let Jesus take control, guiding and directing every decision.

Yet surrender isn’t passive. We’re called to be ready, even in times of hardship, to give a reason for the hope that’s within us. This readiness is not about winning arguments but gently sharing the truth with respect and love. Why do we believe in God? Why trust the Bible? Why follow Jesus? Every believer should be equipped with answers, rooted in both Scripture and their own testimony of transformation.

Moreover, Peter reminds us of the importance of maintaining a good conscience. When our lives align with God’s Word, we stand boldly, free from guilt and fear. This clear conscience gives us courage and peace, even in the midst of suffering or persecution.

As we walk through trials, we can be assured that God’s will is unfolding. Suffering for righteousness is better than suffering for wrongdoing. Christ, our ultimate example, endured suffering with unwavering trust in the Father’s plan.

So, let us surrender fully to Christ, live with a clear conscience, and be ready to share the hope of the gospel—with gentleness, respect, and unwavering faith.
