Casting Our Cares on God (1 Peter 5:7-11)

Pastor Israel Carmody   -

This past Sunday, we concluded our powerful journey through 1 Peter, focusing on one of the most encouraging passages in Scripture. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are reminded to cast all our cares on the Lord because He cares for us. Whether we are overwhelmed with anxieties about our marriages, children, health, or finances, God calls us to decisively throw those burdens onto Him.

The imagery of “casting” here is the same used for casting a fishing net, meaning a complete, once-and-for-all act. Too often, we bring our problems to God in prayer but walk away still carrying them. Peter encourages us to truly let go and trust in God’s care. We also learned about the fierce reality of our adversary, the devil, who prowls like a roaring lion. Yet, our ultimate hope lies in standing firm in the faith, resisting the enemy, and trusting that God’s grace will strengthen and sustain us through every trial.

As we move forward, we rejoice in the promise of God’s faithfulness. This Sunday, we start a brand-new series in 2 Peter, where we’ll dive into Peter’s final letter. It’s a timely and urgent message that speaks to living in truth, growing in grace, and being aware of false teachings in these last days. Join us this Sunday evening at 6 PM as we begin this exciting new study in God’s Word!

Remember, God cares for you, and we look forward to growing together in His truth and grace.
