Daily devotion – Communion – the wonder of it!

Pastor Keith   -

This coming Sunday we celebrate communion together as the body of Christ.

It’s significance for every believer cannot be overstated. It’s a time of remembrance, why, Jesus said clearly that each time we come together to celebrate the Lord’s Supper we were to remember Him!

1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Secondly, the Lord’s Supper is a proclamation of Christ’s death – 1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

Communion states the Gospel message as well as the claims of the Gospel on the redeemed person.

Thirdly, Communion is an assurance that Jesus is coming again the Second time!

Mat 26:29 “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
1Co 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

Lastly, it is the Table of Thanksgiving,  a sweet time of fellowship with Christ and His people.

1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

This Sunday I pray for all who know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour that as we partake of this week’s communion service, we will remember with thanksgiving our Lord’s love, His sacrifice and His powerful Resurrection.

That as we hold the bread and the cup in our hands our thoughts will be focused on Christ’s soon return to take us home to be with Him in glory.

As we eat the bread and drink the sup, we will do so with hearts of thanksgiving and filled with joy as we with other brothers and sisters in Christ, come as Christ’s Church and His family to give Him glory and honour!

Calvary Ladies – this Sunday is your last chance to sign up for the Calvary Women’s End of Year Christmas Celebration here at the chapel. Sign up and invite a friend to gather with other godly women to give glory to the King of kings and the Lord of lords – Jesus Christ!
