Daily devotion – the wonder of salvation

Pastor Keith   -

Acts 16: 31 “So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.’ Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.”

There is something truly wonderful about salvation—the joy when a lost soul finds forgiveness, grace, and love through receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It’s hard to capture the elation and peace that fill a heart when a life is forever changed by Him.

This passage reveals the overwhelming joy and transformation that came to the Philippian jailer and his entire household. Moved by Paul and Silas’s testimony, he immediately began serving Christ, starting by washing their wounds, a humble and caring act. He then invited Paul and Silas into his home, offering them the hospitality of a shared meal, symbolizing fellowship and unity in faith.

Through Paul and Silas’s witness, this man’s life—and that of his whole household—was transformed. His home became a place of celebration and rejoicing because they had all come to believe in God. It’s powerful to think how, in one night, a household moved from fear to faith, from darkness to light, simply because two men held fast to God’s peace in the midst of adversity.

This week, may we follow their example by carrying God’s peace and presence with us, even in challenging circumstances.

Perhaps God will use us, like Paul and Silas, to witness to someone whose heart is ready to receive His love. May we also experience the joy of seeing lives changed and rejoicing in new faith!
