Daily devotion – What is the message of Christmas?
What’s the message of Christmas? How would you answer that question? The Bible teaches us that as disciples of Christ we are to be prepared.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
What is the most important answer to that question? It is why Jesus came! Why did God place Himself in the body of a child born in Bethlehem?
The Apostle Paul wrote – 1Ti 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Our answers to people’s questions are to always come from the Bible, the book of Truth!
There are times when we feel we need to placate the people asking such things and so we speak of Christ coming to make people happy, to help us in our marriages and to know how to be good people. They are not the reason Christ came!
Let us in our answers always keep the main issue Jesus Christ, His death, His resurrection and His coming again.
1Jo 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
Our words are meaningless along with our opinions but when we share the Word of God to a relative, a friend or a stranger we can know for certainty that God’s Word has penetrated past their ears and land deep within their soul – Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Lastly, we know that as we speak God’s Word it will have an effect!
Isa 55:10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
Isa 55:11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
As you read God’s Word daily, you are storing up within you ammunition for the Holy Spirit to bring to your remembrance what to say the next time someone asks you – “What’s the message of Christmas?”
Jhn 14:26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Now we are ready!
